Mystery Turned Wood Mortar / Press?

Greetings

Found this Mortar/ Press at the local antique mall and thought it was very interesting for $10. It is turned wood with holes drilled through it and basic carvings on the side.

It is well used and worn. I have exhausted my internet searches and I hope a sharp eyed viewer will know what it is.
